## Description

The Square of the Homeland's Sons, known as Afghan Park, lies in the Rîșcani sector of Chișinău, between Moscova Boulevard and Miron Costin Street. At its centre is the memorial complex "Feciorilor Patriei – Sfântă Amintire", unveiled on 20 May 2007 for soldiers of the Moldavian SSR killed or missing in the Afghanistan war. The complex includes the sculpture "The Grieving Mother", two fountains, white pillars, forty granite plaques with names, a crown of thorns and a cross. The square regularly hosts seasonal fairs and exhibitions.
