## Description

The Church of St. Teodora de la Sihla is an Orthodox cathedral at 20A Alexandr Pușkin street in Chișinău, belonging to the Metropolis of Bessarabia. Services are held in both the new and the old calendar style. The building went up in 1895 as the chapel of the Girls' Gymnasium, designed by Alexandru Bernardazzi in Byzantine style. A tragic event in its altar delayed the consecration until 1922, when it first bore the dedication of St. Theodore the Recruit for the Queen Maria Girls' Lyceum. It was returned to the Metropolis in 1994 after the Soviet period and is a monument of national importance.
