The monument commemorates the Jewish ghetto set up in Chișinău in July 1941, in the lower part of the city, where more than 11,000 people were confined. It stands on Ierusalim Street, between Grigore Vieru Boulevard and Pușkin Street, near the former main entrance of the ghetto. It consists of two blocks of red granite whose recesses form a Star of David, with a bronze figure in front. The inscription, in Hebrew, Romanian and Russian, honours the martyrs of the ghetto. It was unveiled on 22 April 1993, and a nearby information board shows the ghetto's boundaries. It is outdoors.
