Rogojeni Village
Rural tourism
Rogojeni is a village in Șoldănești district on the left bank of the Răut river, about 94 km from Chișinău. The name comes from "rogojină", the reed matting used locally for roofs and interiors. It is first documented in 1623. The church was rebuilt in stone in 1872, and the railway station, built in 1894, lies four kilometres from the village. Monuments include a 19th-century water tower and an Ottoman-era stone bridge. In 2020 researchers found a settlement 6,500–7,000 years old of the Precucuteni-Tripolie culture here. The village has few residents today.
