Assumption of the Virgin Mary Wooden Church

The wooden church of the Dormition of the Mother of God stands in Chișinău, in the Botanica sector, between the City Gates and the lake. It was built in 1642 at the Hârjauca monastery, moved to the village of Hirișeni in 1821 and brought to Chișinău in 2009 by the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History; it was consecrated in autumn 2011. It is 27 metres tall and is described as the oldest and tallest wooden church in the Republic of Moldova.
