Monasteries and churches · Northern Moldova
The Monastery of the Protection of the Mother of God stands in Cosăuți village, Soroca district, in a valley closed in by hills on three sides, with the Dniester to the north. The skete is first mentioned in February 1757, in a note written in a Gospel book, and the old monastery worked until 1833. The present community was reopened in 1990 at a different site and since December 2015 it has been a convent. Visitors come for the quiet of the place, for services and for the Dniester surroundings. It combines easily with a visit to Soroca Fortress. Visiting hours are not confirmed by an official source, so it is worth asking before the trip.
A rough sketch. The distance is in a straight line, not by road.
