The Candle of Gratitude is a candle-shaped monument in Soroca, 29.5 m tall and built of Cosăuți stone. It opened on 27 March 2004, on the initiative of Ion Druță, to honour the anonymous people who preserved Moldova's language, culture and history. A climb of 657 steps leads to the top, with views of Soroca, the surrounding area and the Dniester. Inside there is a small chapel for quiet reflection.
A rough sketch. The distance is in a straight line, not by road.
