Rudi Monastery
Monasteries and churches · Northern Moldova
Rudi Monastery is a convent in northern Moldova, on the bank of the Dniester about 15 km from Otaci, in Soroca District. Its stone church of the Holy Trinity was consecrated in 1777 under Prince Grigore Ghica and keeps traditional Moldovan architecture, with a tower topped by a cross. The monastery was closed in 1948 and used in Soviet times as a children's home and then a hospital; monastic life resumed in 1992, and the church and cells have been restored step by step. The monastic community is still active today. It suits anyone interested in old church architecture and the Dniester landscape.
