The National Museum of History and Ethnography "Dumitru Cara-Ciobanu" is in the village of Beșalma, about 25 km from Comrat and over 110 km from Chișinău, roughly two hours by car. It was opened in 1966 by Dumitru Cara-Ciobanu, a poet, ethnographer and filmmaker, who also gathered most of the collection. Visitors see Gagauz national costumes, including bridal and groom outfits, tools such as the plough and the loom, gourd jugs called suvak, and clothing from the late 19th century. A hall on Gagauz history holds maps, books and extracts from documents, and an ethnographic cinema hall shows documentaries about Gagauz customs. Local guides tell the village's family stories.
A rough sketch. The distance is in a straight line, not by road.
