Chișinău and Surroundings
The Central Market is the largest food market in Chișinău, in a rectangular block bounded by Armenească, Mitropolit Varlaam and Tighina streets, in the Centru sector. It covers about 3.5 hectares. Across Mitropolit Varlaam street stands the central bus station, with urban, national and international routes. Until 1991 the market was known by its Russian name, Центральный рынок. Visitors find local fruit, vegetables, meat, fish and dairy products, and the choice of fresh produce is widest in summer. The market is crowded, and prices are usually negotiated with the sellers.
