Wineries · Chișinău and Surroundings
Hîncești Winery is in the town of Hîncești, in the Codru wine region. It was founded in the early 1800s by the merchant and diplomat Manuc Bey. After his death in 1817 his family modernised the wine production on the property he had bought for a mansion. After World War II the estate was seized and the winery became a state enterprise. Next to the winery stands the restored Manuc Bey mansion complex, open to visitors: the palace, the steward's house, the countess's building, the hunting castle and the watchtower, set in a park. The complex has been an architectural monument since 1993.
