Veverita Monastery, dedicated to the Mother of God, Joy of All the Afflicted, stands near the village of Veverita in Ungheni district. It was founded between 1922 and 1924 by Archimandrite Ghenadie Vornicescu. It was closed in 1952, its church used as a store and then a barn before burning in 1985. The monastery was refounded in 1993 and has been a men's monastery again since 1995. A porch divides the building in two: the right wing holds the winter church in Russian style, the left wing has Gothic influences, and a Gothic-style bell tower rises above the porch. The church of the former monastery is a protected architectural monument.
A rough sketch. The distance is in a straight line, not by road.
