Padurea Domneasca, or princely forest

Pădurea Domnească is a scientific nature reserve in Glodeni district, on the Prut River at the Romanian border. It is the only place in Moldova where European bison live: the species had vanished from the country and was reintroduced in 2005 with animals from Polish national parks. The reserve also shelters many species of mammals, birds and plants, some of them protected. Walking routes lead from the area to nearby sites, among them O sută de movile, Cheile Butești and Stânca Mare, as well as old oak groves.
