“Plaiul Fagului” natural reserve

Plaiul Fagului is a scientific reserve with strict protection in Ungheni district, in the north-west of the Codru Upland; its office is in Rădenii Vechi commune. It was established in 1992 on the ground of an older hunting estate and protects forests of beech, ash, oak and linden. The core of the reserve is closed to all human activity, so a visit should be agreed in advance with the administration. The Academy of Sciences of Moldova provides the scientific oversight.
